Growing Gorgeous Azaleas

Azaleas are really easy to care for, even though it appears complicated. There are a few keys to making sure that your azaleas are perfect. First, you need to select a prime planting spot. Look for a spot to plant azaleas during the spring. You need a cool spot that gets some shade during the day, rather than full sun. Don’t plant them in heavy shade however, or azaleas won’t bloom properly. The soil needs to be well-drained as well, because azaleas don’t like having wet roots for days. Azaleas have shallow rather than deep roots, so it is even more important to keep the soil around them drained.

One of the most important things you need to know about growing azaleas is that they prefer soil that is a bit acidic. Azaleas are acid-loving plants. You need your soil to be a bit acidic, and if it isn’t you can add peat moss to increase the acidity. Also, you need to make sure that your azaleas have a lot of nitrogen in the soil. Azaleas use nitrogen to spur growth and color, so make sure your fertilizer has nitrogen in it, to make sure your azaleas bloom well.
